During his pre-doctoral internship in 2012, he served as a Visiting Researcher at the National Center for Metallurgical Research (CENIM-CSIC) in Madrid, Spain. He began his academic career as an Assistant Professor in 2013 at Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2018. He is currently an academic staff member at Baskent University in Ankara, T\u00fcrkiye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Throughout his career, he has been actively engaged in cutting-edge research and teaching in metallurgy and materials engineering. His research primarily focuses on the relationship between microstructure and mechanical properties in steels and metallic alloys, with an emphasis on nanostructured bainitic steels, advanced heat treatment techniques, additive manufacturing, and materials for extreme conditions. He has published more than 33 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at 13 national and international conferences. During his academic career, he has supervised or advised 35 master&#8217;s and doctoral students. In this context, nanostructured bainitic steels have emerged as a transformative class of advanced high-strength steels, demonstrating unparalleled mechanical performance through their unique nanoscale microstructure. These remarkable materials derive their superior properties from an intricate microstructure comprising ultrafine bainitic ferrite laths, typically below 100 nm in thickness, separated with metastable austenite films, further enhanced by the transformation-induced plasticity effect (TRIP) during mechanical loading. While the fundamental heat treatment process for producing these steels appears straightforward, their widespread industrial adoption faces several critical challenges that must be systematically addressed. The inherently slow transformation kinetics significantly prolong production times, creating economic barriers for large-scale manufacturing. Furthermore, careful consideration must be given to alloy design to ensure optimal phase stability while maintaining adequate weldability, alongside concerns regarding the thermal and mechanical stability of the microstructure under service conditions. This work presents promising pathways to overcome these limitations. Through strategic alloy design modifications, particularly in carbon content optimization and microalloying approaches, researchers have successfully accelerated the bainitic transformation while preserving the desired mechanical properties. Concurrent developments in heat treatment methodologies, including precise control of processing parameters and innovative processing routes, have demonstrated potential for reducing production times. The introduction of thermomechanical processing techniques prior to heat treatment has shown particular promise in refining the microstructure while simultaneously enhancing transformation kinetics. These collective advancements underscore a fundamental principle: by leveraging a deep understanding of phase transformation mechanisms and implementing precise process control, it becomes possible to engineer nanostructured bainitic steels with tailored properties without resorting to prohibitively complex manufacturing methods. The ongoing research in this field continues to narrow the gap between laboratory-scale achievements and industrial-scale production, paving the way for broader implementation in demanding applications across the automotive, aerospace, and heavy machinery sectors, where the combination of ultrahigh strength and damage tolerance provides critical performance advantages. He served as a Visiting Researcher at the J\u00fclich Research Center (Germany) in 2002 and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Nagoya University (Japan) in 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since 2008, he has been conducting research and teaching courses in the field of superconducting quantum electronics at the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at TOBB University of Economics and Technology (TOBB ET\u00dc). During this time, he has advised more than 10 master&#8217;s and doctoral students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since 2021, as the founder of Phi0 Quantum Technologies Inc., he continues his work towards the industrialization of quantum technologies. Within the company, he leads projects on the development and commercialization of quantum computing and quantum key distribution systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ali Bozbey&#8217;s areas of expertise include the development of superconductor-based quantum computing and sensing technologies at the chip and system level. He completed his primary education in Ankara, attended secondary school in both Ankara and Hopa, and began his high school education in Hopa, graduating from Denizli Cumhuriyet High School in 1979.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the academic year 1979\u20131980, he studied at Ege University. He then enrolled at Istanbul Technical University, Sakarya Faculty of Engineering, Department of Metallurgical Engineering in 1980 and graduated in 1984.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1985, he was appointed as a Research Assistant in the Department of Metal Education at the Faculty of Technical Education, Marmara University. He completed his M.Sc. thesis titled <em>\u201cResidual Stresses Occurring in Welding Processes and Their Measurement\u201d<\/em> under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ahmet Topuz at the Department of Metallurgical Engineering, Institute of Science and Technology, Y\u0131ld\u0131z University, and earned the title of Metallurgical Engineer (M.Sc.) in 1987.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He completed his compulsory military service as an Artillery Second Lieutenant between 1987 and 1988. In 1991, he spent nine months at the University of Huddersfield in the United Kingdom within the scope of the Y\u00d6K-World Bank Second Industrial Education Project. In 1992, he was appointed as a Lecturer at Marmara University Faculty of Technical Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1995, he completed his Ph.D. thesis titled <em>\u201cProperties of Materials Coated with Al\u2082O\u2083-13% TiO\u2082 and Cr\u2082O\u2083-5% SiO\u2082-3% TiO\u2082 by Plasma Spraying and Flame Spraying Techniques\u201d<\/em> under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Zeki \u00c7izmecio\u011flu at the Department of Metallurgical Engineering, Y\u0131ld\u0131z Technical University, and was awarded the title of Doctor of Engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1995, he was appointed as Assistant Professor in the Department of Material Education, Faculty of Technical Education, Marmara University. He became Associate Professor in 1997 and was promoted to Full Professor in 2003 in the same department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Between 1997 and 1998, he lectured part-time at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Dumlup\u0131nar University. He served as Director of Marmara University Continuous Education Center (TUAR) from 1999 to 2011, Vice Dean and Head of the Department of Metal Education at the Faculty of Technical Education between 2003 and 2006, and as Vice Director of the Institute of Science at Marmara University from 2005 to 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2007, he was a Visiting Professor at Georgia Institute of Technology, School of Materials Science and Engineering (USA) for one year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Between 2012 and 2015, he served as the Founding Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University. He served as Head of the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Marmara University Faculty of Technology between 2016 and 2017. On December 6, 2017, he was appointed as the Vice-Rector of the National Defence University, a position he continues to hold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prof. Dr. Serdar SALMAN has authored over 200 national and international publications, including more than 60 in indexed journals. He has served as principal investigator for five research projects and is currently leading two T\u00dcB\u0130TAK-funded projects. His research interests include welding technology, powder metallurgy, ceramic coatings, and biomaterials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He has attended international conferences as a speaker, session chair, and organizing committee chair in numerous countries, including the USA, South Korea, China, Mexico, Pakistan, Greece, Bulgaria, Cuba, Spain, Croatia, North Macedonia, South Africa, the Netherlands, Germany, Serbia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Morocco, the United Kingdom, and Kazakhstan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He is the author of two books: <em>Fundamentals of Materials Science<\/em> and <em>Metallography<\/em>. He has supervised 11 Ph.D. and 37 M.Sc. theses and is currently supervising 3 Ph.D. and 1 M.Sc. thesis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since 2017, he has been serving as Vice-Rector of the National Defence University.
